Nelson’s Sew Line has offered residents in the
LC Valley and surrounding area high-quality sewing machines and
sewing related products since 1956. Originally Henry and Marie
Nelson owned and operated a Singer sewing machine store in
Pendleton, OR, but in the winter of 1956, the Nelson family moved
to Lewiston, Idaho and setup the Necchi Elna Sewing Center on Main
Street. In the mid 1960’s the store known as Nelson’s Sewing
Tree moved to the Lewiston Center Mall. This store handled sewing
machines and fabric.
Pat
Nelson began helping at the store at a young age. While he was in
high school, he was also working on sewing machines and helping
out at the store. After graduation Pat stayed with the family
business and operated the store in Moscow until they decided to
close it and enlarge the Lewiston store. In 1993, Henry and Marie
retired and Pat took over the family business. At that time, Pat
changed the name to Nelson’s Sew Line and discontinued selling
fabric. Pat continues to be one of a rare group; that group of
qualified sewing machine repair people. At Nelson’s Sew Line,
Pat repairs all brands of sewing machines and sergers.
In
1995, Nancy Young joined Nelson’s Sew Line. Nancy handles sales,
training on computerized sewing machines and software programs,
stabilizers and phone assistance. The software that computerized
sewing machines use is being constantly upgraded and changed. New
technology is also changing the machines themselves. Both Pat and
Nancy routinely attend training conferences and go through
rigorous programs to keep their technical skills and knowledge up
to date.
Not only does Nelson’s Sew Line regularly host
sewing educators to come and teach people of all skill levels
sewing techniques and how to create beautiful projects, but they
give personalized help to customers on a daily basis.
All are welcome to Nelson’s Sew Line! Come in
and meet Pat and Nancy and let your imagination run wild with the
fun that you can have creating your own images on fabric.
